Charlie Nietubicz is a charter member and President of the Discovery Center @ Water’s Edge and leads the technology/content team.  Charlie currently works part time as a Principal Engineer at ETC, bringing with him 40 years of federal service, including 3 years of active duty in the US Army, and 5 years at Battelle Memorial Institute. He retired from the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) in 2010, where he worked as an experimental and computational research scientist in ballistics and aerodynamics.  Charlie was appointed Division Chief of the Computational Science and Computing Division and the first Director of the ARL DoD Supercomputing Center. His assignments also included work at the Pentagon’s office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition Logistics and Technology and a research assignment at NASA AMES Research Center in CA.  Charlie graduated from the University of Dayton with a B.S. and M.S in Mechanical Engineering.  He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and member of the Association of Computer Machinery.   Charlie’s additional volunteer activities include being a board member of the Senior Science Society and previously coaching youth tee ball and soccer and establishing the first computer program at Good Shepherd School.
